This session examines the relationship between entropy, random numbers and cryptographic keys. Currently, FIPS-140 only approves the use of deterministic random bit generators. If strong keys are essential for good cryptography, why and how are deterministic algorithms used? This session explains RNG construction and provides guidance on selection of appropriate RNGs for your application.
