Abstract

We have a history of hacking a huge range of IoT devices, from the listening Samsung TV, to the Mitsubishi Outlander, and the Fender smart guitar amplifier. This session will review the various attempts around the world by authorities to fix the problem and will consider why they’ve failed so far, as well as releasing some new smart product hack demos live at RSA to re-illustrate the point.Learning Objectives:1: Gain an understandable, technical frame of reference for the IoT.2: Unravel the complexities and business drivers that make the IoT a security mess.3: Leave armed with knowledge to make better buying decisions, and what to do if they are compromised.Pre-Requisites:Just a basic understanding of the Internet.
