The U.S. law covering law enforcement access to email and data stored in the cloud hasn't been meaningfully updated since 1986. It no longer fits with how technology is used everyday nor does it provide the privacy protection that we should expect. In this session, we will describe the problem, the patchwork of non-intuitive rules and the status of proposals to update the law.
