US law on government access to email and other data stored online has been in the news like never before. There's a growing consensus, in light of the revelations about NSA surveillance, that the law no longer fits with how we use technology nor provides the privacy that we should expect. In this session we’ll describe the issue, the patchwork of nonintuitive rules, and possible fixes to the law.
