We present a technical analysis of the recent widely announced Cisco IP Phone vulnerability. We present the first public demonstration of a next generation embedded device defense technology called Symbiotes. We demonstrate the attack against Cisco IP phones, and show how Symbiotes defend these phones from being turned into listening posts.
